Hi!
I need help with food for an elderly mouse. She is 25 months old and I have a feeling that it's difficult for her to eat the pellets - I think they are too hard (she is on Oxbow rat food). Does anybody have any suggestions on what to try? Thanks!

My old guy never had any problems with seed mixes. I’d find a good one and see how she does on it.

What kind of seed mix would you recommend as a balanced diet?

You could also break up the pellets in water, mice readily eat things with a yogurt/applesauce texture, especially old ones. The seed mix is always nice to have because it offers them a fun way to forage and eat. I believe there's a thread on that in the nutrition section.

My oldest mouse did have a hard time digesting seed (I'd find shells in her droppings) but she was on-and-off antibiotics for most of her golden years so that might explain it.
