Serious Question

Would it be harmful to paint the ends of mice tails? I have a litter of 8 and they are all black and hard to tell apart but I have nontoxic acrylic paint and thought maybe I could just paint their tail tips different colors. Would this be a safe option?

If it were me I wouldn't do it. They may eat the paint if it falls off and altho it's nontoxic it could contain ingredients that would upset your babies stomachs. Check the ingredients first. If anything I would use vegetable dye that is used in alot of chew toys as it sounds more safe and natural. You need to separate the males from the females once weened though which will help differentiate a little. I'm honestly not sure what else to recommend :/ An experienced breeder may have some good ideas for differentiating them I'm sure there's a couple methods out there.

Thats the other thing too, all 8 of them are male 
ill probably just watch and look for small differences and if i cant find any, ill figure it out then, also look at the little swing i made!

I don't know about the paint, but I would look into the way people mark their rodents. Rats I have seen marked quite a bit before. I saw a YouTube video on this once too. I think it was by Emiology?
