Sweet Goose

Sweet Goose was euthanized 12/2/22. He’d lived a long life, and battled his whole way through it — spoiled as he may have been. He was a great mouse. Quirky, polite, gentle-natured, a peaceful soul.
I chose to euthanize him while he still had some “life” left in him…I didn’t want the quality of that life to go down too far, and he’d already been living with cancer eating away at his jaw for a few months now. I don’t know if that made the decision harder or easier.
He was cremated and will be scattered in a garden at a pet cemetery by the gulf. Parts of his shoulder have been sent to a lab for study. We hope to get to the bottom of whatever skin disorder has been waging war on my colony, and that of some others. Gooses life will help other mice.
I think he would rest well knowing that.
Here’s a baby picture. Better days, I’m sure of it. Rest in peace, Goose. Your life had meaning, and I hope it had joy.
