Mouse with head tilt
I have a 10 month old female mouse called meadow who recently developed a head tilt, she went to the vet and had 4 days of antibiotics which she didn’t respond to. I took her back to the vet and he said she is most likely in pain or feeling nauseous as it could be a neurological problem, and that if it doesn’t go away in the next week then he would recommend putting her to sleep. I don’t want to disrespect his opinion as obviously he knows a lot more about animal health than me however meadow seems extremely happy and content at home. She’s staying a healthy weight, eating, drinking, burrowing, running on her wheels, popcorning (where they jump around in happiness) so I am worried I would be putting down a perfectly happy mouse. I’ve also read online rodents can recover from the illness but remain with the head tilt for the rest of their life. However I wouldn’t want to keep her alive when it could be a brain tumour which might eventually cause a more painful death. Any advice appreciated!

I think that is she is still happy and energetic, there’s no need to put her to sleep yet. However if her health begins declining, and she stops playing, eating, drinking, etc, then it’s something to consider. I’m sorry your going through this, is not a fun thing to think about.
