Question about bedding
When you do spot cleaning on a daily basis how can you tell where they have peed on colored bedding. I use white bedding with Codo so it's really easy to see where he's gone, but I use colored with Podo because it's easier to see him. And it's more fun.

Re: Question about bedding
I don't know! Maybe just spot clean the nest and wheel. That should take care of it.

Re: Question about bedding
For Mickey, his wheel gets so dirty with poo and pee so cleaning that in between weekly tank cleanings helps a lot. I think that is where most of the smell comes from in his tank.

Re: Question about bedding
Mice tend to choose one corner in their cage/tank that is the "pee spot." Once you determine which corner that is for Podo, that's where you can focus your spot cleaning.

Re: Question about bedding
Kind of disgusting, but if you can't see it, just feel the corners. You'll find it eventually. My girls are litter-trained now, so it's well worth it.

Re: Question about bedding
Over the years, most of my bucks have chosen to use one of their cardboard hides as a dedicated toilet box. A small box that can be thrown away and replaced every few days is perfect: The corner of a cereal box, half of a rectangular tissue box, etc.

Oh, that is a good idea

Re: Question about bedding
My first two groups of girls were pretty neat, using one main pee area, though not the same spot every week. Well, I don't know if you'd call Bacon and Hashbrown "neat" when their pee spot was usually in or very near to their nest. But this group of girls I have now just go wherever. Daryl was like that too. No special spots. Just here, there, everywhere. I just try my best to spot clean any wet bedding and clean the wheels (or sometimes toys that need it) often, in between weekly deep cleans.

Re: Question about bedding
Yeah, Codo definitely picks one corner but Podo seems to not have a dedicated spot. I'll try to put a corner of a cereal box in and see it he'll use it. He was going on top of his wooden den last week but this week he's not. Lol
