My gerbil, Pup, is a very old man. He has been slowing down lately. About a week ago I noticed a bulge on his left side. It doesn't seem to bother him. He still likes digging. But he does sleep more than he used to, which is to be expected since he is old, a little over 3 years old now. So sad when they get old.

Aww I'm sorry to hear about the tumor. Are they as common in gerbils as they are mice?

Thank you. No, not as common as they are in mice and rats. I will say, from my experience, gerbils are the hardiest of rodents.

That's sad, I had two mice die from tumors and it was a very emotional experience for me. At that point I kind of told myself mice not be the right pet for me, but I still want to keep getting them in the future. I have two gerbils that I got on Feb 7, 2017. They were three months when I got them, and I hope they live a long healthy life. Smile

I will say, for the most part, gerbils are a very hardy rodent. Which is good Very Happy
