Questions
Since Daisy passed away, I'm going to do a good deep cleaning on the cage and wipe down the toys. I know it probably isn't needed, but just as a safety procedure. I'm just wondering, are they all going to be sick now? Or will their immune systems likely be able to fight what she had as long as they stay strong and healthy?

Re: Questions
It's probably not necessary, but it won't hurt anything either. It's hard to say if your other mice could become ill without knowing for sure what was going on with Daisy. I'm sorry that I don't have a better answer.

Re: Questions
From the video you had provided, I would guess, by the way she was circling that it wasn't something that was contagious. I'm wondering if it was something neurological. I agree that cleaning the tank probably isn't necessary but couldn't hurt

Re: Questions
A few hours after that video was posted though, I picked her up and looked at her eyes and ears to see if they looked ok, and she had something coming from one of her eyes. It was like a white liquid, only on one eye. I'm not sure what that was. It only happened right when I woke her up, because I checked on her a few times and she was like that after waking up, but it went away after she was awake for a few seconds. Pretty odd, I'm not sure what it was. The circling was quite odd too, I don't know what that was about. I can tell you it's not like any mouse illness I've seen before. I'm wondering if her eye was infected or something and the circling was kind of like what mice do with ear infections? I don't know. I didn't notice anything on her eyes before yesterday, and she was eating and drinking just fine.

Re: Questions
Hmm, yes it's hard to say what it was exactly.

Re: Questions
Circling could be from an ear infection, a stroke, a tumor - none of them contagious. Â I think mouse eyes tend to get a little watery/gunky sometimes when they're not feeling their best for whatever reason. Rina's eyes lately have been a little watery and sometimes it looks white-ish but as far as I can tell her only issue is age (and weight). Â I haven't been overly concerned about it. When Daryl's eye was infected it was red and swollen.

Re: Questions
Oh, that does make sense. Thank you, CallaLily! I think you are right then, it is very possible that it wasn't contagious. I agree it couldn't hurt to do a deep clean, so even though it isn't necessary, I want to do it anyways. Thank you so much again for all your help!
