Bald spot on mouse back

Hi.
My mouse Roquefort is having a bald spot that he's been itching on his back. I’ve only had them about a week. I did just read online that its common for mice to have allergies to sunflower seeds. I did give him a few sunflower seeds a couple times the past few days as a treat. My other mouse shows no signs of balding or itching. Any ideas what it could be? He is in carefresh paper unscented bedding. He is on a diet of Mazuri Rat and Mouse diet. I have given him small amounts of veggies as treats that I have read are safe for mice to eat. I dont think its barbering from his tank mate they get along great, but Cheddar is the dominant one it seems. But they are stick together like glue and seem to be best of friends Roquefort shows no signs of fear. I do know a great vet I can call if this is recommended.

If I’m remembering correctly, Mazuri Rat & Mouse Food is pretty high in crude protein. Too much can often lead to “hot spots” and itching in mice. Maybe try transitioning over to a lower protein food? For the average pet mouse from untracked lines, 12-14% crude protein is recommended.

Thank you for this great i formation, but I am confused now what brand of food is safe for me to feed him? A lab block with low protein mixed with a seed mix diet?
Would neutering help two males live together without risk?

Yes, a good seed mix supplemented with a good block food is ideal.
From what I’ve read, not really. It most often will not put an end to their territorial behavior towards other males. It can however make it safe to introduce each male to their own group of females — which is a more natural living arrangement and usually works out well.
