Elder mouse diet Empty Elder mouse diet

So, I caring for one of my mice in her final days or weeks. She has a large inoperable tumor. She is almost 2 years old. Her one arm in the front is not usable and picking up things has been hard. She had a rice roll and food stick that are easy to eat. Plus shelled peas and cooked potatoes. But I am going to suplment with some portiage item as her food stick eating looks challenging at times I have instant oatmeal, she loves uncooked oats so that should be good. However, I was thinking of adding some baby food to it. My concern is lemon juice is the last ingredient it all the baby food. Do you think this is ok? Has anyone tried it? I am also open to other food and care ideas for her. It has been hard to see her struggle with certain activities.

Hello!

So sorry to hear about your mouse; my Leaf was in a similar situation and passed about a week ago <3

I would try to water down some pellets for her; they should help her diet stay fortified for as long as possible. You can flavor it with baby food if she isn’t too fond of the taste.

Speaking of baby food, you could probably make some yourself. Applesauce is really easy to make and makes the kitchen smell nice—just boil a few peeled apples until tender, drain the water, and mash them. Stays good in the fridge for about a week.

But, even with a little lemon juice, I’m sure that’d be fine—just a little acid for taste is likely all it is. Shouldn’t be enough to give her any oral sores or anything.

Wet foods like oatmeal would also likely be appreciated. Smile
