Help!! Sick mouse!! Empty Help!! Sick mouse!!

Post by tkstefan Mon 20 Jul 2020, 11:56 pm

I’ve only have my mouse for about a month. Recently, she’s been breathing harder, making little chirping sounds, and being less active. Her sister is fine, however. I’m almost positive she has a respiratory infection, but my parents won’t let me take her to the vet. What do I do?? Is it possible she can recover on her own? Please help!!

If you're unable to take them to the vet, I would recommend ordering some Enrofloxacin (Baytril) online.

I would recommend putting 0.5 ml into 8oz of water right into their water bottle since you probably won't be able to dose her directly on your own.

Thank you!! Are there any home remedies I can try, as well? The shipping will take awhile.

@tkstefan It can help to give your mouse a "steam bath" - basically, run the shower on hot and close the bathroom door, and leave the mouse in the bathroom for an hour or so. Of course, you'll need to either hold her, or put her in a small container that she can sit in safely.

This can definitely ease her breathing some. I'd do it whenever you notice her breathing being strained, as often as once a day.
