Stuff from China/Japan Empty Stuff from China/Japan

I see really cheap hamster toys on Ebay that look so tempting to buy, but are they safe? They are usually from Japan/Hong Kong/China area.

Well, it depends on the toy. What are some you have been looking at? Really, if it has the materials listed and looks safe to you, I wouldn't worry all that much. That is of course if the item is listed as new, I would hesitate and be extra careful if it was used or is not in packaging.

Lots of the wooden toys will be a pretty safe bet - you sometimes see the exact same toys being sold under different brand names at pet stores. I have bought a few things on ebay.

I've purchased lots of weird stuff from overseas, some plastic and some wood. As long as they are made with safe materials, I think you're good to go. If it's wood, I bake it just to be safe. I agree, many of these items are being sold in stores or on Amazon with different brand names. Anyway, I've been happy with everything I've bought.

I saw the most useless wheel from one of those Chinese megasellers on eBay last week. It was sort of like a mesh wheel, but made of soft plastic so that it would be chewed apart in minutes. Even worse, it had walls on BOTH sides with a door that snapped open and shut. The owner was meant to shut the poor mouse or hamster inside of it like a prison cell.
Not only did someone think of the idea, but other people thought it was good enough to produce and sell?!?!?!

That's awful Brynne! I've seen some teeny tiny wheels for sale, but that really takes some beating!

That's horrible!! Well, maybe it's a good thing that it's made with cheap plastic then; at least they could chew their way out Worry

Yes, happily, very easy to chew out of if anyone was ignorant enough to buy one.
