I've finally gotten my arse in gear to upload an avatar on all of the websites that I use. Should I say attempt to upload. I'm hoping to use the same photo everywhere, just adjusted to different sizes to comply with the regs in each place.
The one I had for here was 200 by 164 pixels. The size was fine, but it had WAAAAAY too may kb. It had over 90 and needed to be under 64. So I shrunk it to 150 pixels. It still had nearly 90 kb. So I shrunk it to 120...then 100...then 80...then 50...then 33...then 25. After banging my hands on the desk and shouting out loud a few times, I shrunk it to an invisible 10 by 9 pixels.
IT WAS STILL 69.9 KB!!!!!!!

How the frumping rumproast can I make an avatar?!?!

What am I missing?

I've used this photo resizer with good results. http://webresizer.com/resizer/

I hope it works for you too.

I hate when my pictures do that. It's so weird! I usually upload it to Photobucket, take a screenshot, and then crop it back out in Paint. For some reason that works, though CallaLily's idea sounds easier. Laughing

You ca also get a program to compact the image, it s little more reliable than online photo resizers. I use them all the time and you can't even tell the difference between them. Back on TFM I could NEVER find a small enough image, yet on here I put in the same image sand it is well within the limit.

!!!!!!!!!!!THANK YOU, everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!Oh my gosh, that took like two minutes!!!!!!

Callalily, I clicked on your link because it looked like the easiest first step to try... and there only was ONE step! Whoo hoo!

Daily, I'm yelling at the computer for one thing or another, "This should not be rocket science in 2016!" I tell it. Some things certainly feel that way.
