Toys from outside?

I'm a new mouse-owner and I'm curious about the protocol for bringing toys in from outside? Do they need to be treated at all besides washing them with water? For example, I've had a tumble-weed type dry branch as decoration in my house for a few years that I don't use anymore and I wanted to break it up and put it in their cage. Would this be okay? It's been in my house this whole time so there aren't any bugs or anything.

I would bake off any branches you find outside and inspect them very closely for any bugs/burrowing in the wood/mold/etc.. You can also use rocks from outside; just soak them in a white vinegar water solution and let them fully dry before adding them to the cage.
