OK to handle mice while sick? Empty OK to handle mice while sick?

I read online somewhere that it's possible to pass some human sicknesses to mice. Last night I developed some kind of cold or flu or something, with coughing, some congestion, aches, chills. Should I wait to handle my mice until I'm feeling better? Or can I just be careful about washing my hands and not coughing on them?

I'd hate to just leave them in their cages all day. I'm worried they'll get bored. But I definitely don't want to put their health at risk. What do you guys do?

I don't know for certain that a cold could be passed from you to your mice but it doesn't hurt anything to make sure to wash your hands before (and after) handling your mice. I think it's a good habit to get into, even when you're not feeling sick. Smile

So yes, if you're feeling up to it, I say go ahead and play with your mice.

The common cold cannot be passed on to mice. Not sure about the flu, but washing your hands and covering your sneezes should do the trick.
