Thank you! They decided to sleep in the puzzle playground that is right in the center of the cage, next to the wheel. And they are tearing apart that grassy tee-pee in the back for nesting materialRodents rock! wrote:AMO, that looks great! So colorful and fun! What part did they make their nest in? Really cute paper on the back of the tank

Re: Housing Pictures
I just ordered some new things for Mickey's tank! Can't wait for the order to arrive! I got him two new cute food & water dishes. I got a plastic tube/seesaw. And I ordered a corner organizer shelf to add another level to his tank. Mickey has allergies to wood, so I have to find things that are ceramic or plastic. When they arrive and I get them set up in his tank, I will post pictures!

Re: Housing Pictures
Orders for the mice are so exciting!!! I want to make one sometime next month, as all the toys I ordered at the beginning of the year are looking ready to be replaced. lol
A person on a Facebook mouse group shared a picture of her 20 gallon with a homemade topper, and it looked fantastic. I made a topper for a bin cage for my gerbils and one for a 10 gallon, but never considered making a larger one. It'd be a good way to upgrade Mika without depriving him of some fleeting interaction in between out times.
Here's my smaller cage for the ladies. It's only slightly bigger than a 10 gallon, which I didn't realize when I ordered it. They used to sleep in hammocks but don't like that one for some reason. I'll get the big one next time.

Re: Housing Pictures
This came just in time for a Christmas gift.
The bar spacing is uneven in a few spaces but she's been in it for the better part of an hour and it doesn't seem like she can escape. I'll be keeping my eye on it, though. She's been poking her nose through for treats so I think we're safe for the night.
She loves it. She's actually taken to crawling under the fleece so I guess it came out pretty useless, but she's definitely having fun climbing around. She'll make great use of the additional space, so the struggles of cleaning is worth it.
I'm still working out how to decorate something of this layout, though. Any tips? It seems pretty bare in comparision to our usual.

Re: Housing Pictures
How fun! I have the same topper in one of the first pictures on this thread. I used cage wood things to add some climbing areas, but if your girl has problems with wood that won't be an option. Maybe lava ledges instead?
The topper I have now doesn't have a big space like that, it goes all the way across and then has a smaller second shelf. It's much easier to decorate and add toys that way.
You could try a larger layered hammock or something since she likes playing under the fleece. I fold a piece in half for the bottom piece of "bunkbed" hammocks, and my girls always find their way in to it.

Done! I've added a bridge I made of tubes on the top level and another two free standing ones on the second and bottom. I'll also be making some foraging toys, hanging paper chains and hammocks.
I'm trying to figure out a non-wood ladder idea. I can't make fleece ropes to save my life.
@Peachy I can rearrange the levels to be more like that, probably. Those are good ideas! I'll see about adding them soon.

Re: Housing Pictures
Egg cartons do okay for ladders. I made a mesh topper for Froggy and his ladder to get up there was the flat top of an egg carton. You just have to be a little creative attaching it.

Mickey is also allergic to wood. I got him a couple of plastic ladders in the bird section of PETsMART. They are great.

Re: Housing Pictures
I tried to make little Oliver's home full of toys this time. It isn't super colorful, but boy did he have a blast exploring all his new climbing toys and ladders when I put him in his cage after cleaning it.

Peachy wrote:I thought this thread was lots of fun on TFM (click here to see pictures saved from the old thread), so why not give it a go again?! This thread is for everyone to share pictures of their mouse homes, play bins, etc. I'll start!
These first two pictures are like four years old, but they're the 10 gallon that housed three of my first girls... Before I decided that I hate hanging stuff. I'm getting back into it, though.
These two are more recent... A 10 gallon and a 29 gallon (before bedding).
Can't wait to see everyone else's pictures!!
Yes. I love these! But aren't wired wheel bad?
