Fleece bedding?

Fleece bedding?
So, I've just realized how expensive bedding is. I was planning on getting some that costs ten dollars, but then I calculated it and realized that I'll be spending like 120 dollars on bedding per year. I can't afford that, I'm 13 and I don't have that much money. I've heard that there's reusable fleece bedding that you can wash and reuse, and that sounds MUCH cheaper. Does anyone know where I can get some, whether it works, and how much it costs? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Fleece bedding?
I've never considered using fleece in a mouse cage. Fleece is safe, but I'm not sure how happy your mice would be. If you do end up using a fleece liner, it would need washed often. I would also give your mice a large digging box.
This is a fleece liner topic from Hamster Hideout Forum --> http://hamsterhideout.com/forum/topic/141762-has-anyone-used-fleece-for-mouse-bedding/
Also, there are many ways to make your own bedding and/or sometimes it is cheaper to buy things in bulk. I personally get the largest bag of Grreat Choice Aspen Wood Shavings I can get. Here's some videos from some big pet youtubers I watch on how to make your own bedding -->

Re: Fleece bedding?
I don’t know if any commercial brands of fleece bedding, but you could get a big piece of fleece or a cheap fleece blanket (I know Walmart has them this time of year for around $3) and cut it into squares or strips. It might not be great smell control but it’d be simple to collect into a mesh washing bag and put through the washer and dryer.

Re: Fleece bedding?
OK, thanks! Do you think the mice would still enjoy burrowing in it?

Re: Fleece bedding?
I definitely think they would! Especially as it begins to get colder. Make sure you have a good amount of bedding for them, as you would need to with regular paper/wood bedding.Clementine wrote:OK, thanks! Do you think the mice would still enjoy burrowing in it?

Re: Fleece bedding?
Personally I would suggest using some paper for them to nest with, mice really love to shred paper and use it in their nests. Just offering them some tissue or paper towel along with the shreds of fleece would go a long way I think!
Another option that's cheaper than buying commercial bedding is using shredded paper. I use shredded tissue paper and paper towels exclusively for my mice, and it works just as well as commercial paper bedding for me - and much cheaper! Though, you would have to get a paper shredder. Well you don't HAVE to, since it is possible to shred it by hand, but the shredder makes it a whole lot easier.
