Re: Housing Pictures
Ooh, I love those puzzle things. I was just considering rescuing mine from the closet.
That shelf is a neat idea!

Some cool shelves you've got going on there!

Re: Housing Pictures
If you don't mind me asking - how do you put hammocks and such onto a tanks lid? Looks like my girls have been missing out on the luxury of hammocks,

Re: Housing Pictures
Just tie it into the screen with some string.ThePetekeyPrep wrote:If you don't mind me asking - how do you put hammocks and such onto a tanks lid? Looks like my girls have been missing out on the luxury of hammocks,
Re: Housing Pictures
I attach safety pins to the hammock, then attach it to the lid with zip ties. Easy!

Scaredymouse your girls seem to really love their hammocks! How do you make yours?

Re: Housing Pictures
The simplest one I make is just a square of fleece, folded over to make a triangle snuggle pouch hammock. Then I make one that uses one 2-ply square of fleece about 5 x 5 and another 2-ply square of fleece about 6 x 6, then glue the corners from both squares together. It will have a flat top and a covered rest area underneath.
Safety pins in the corners and attached to the screen with zip ties.

Re: Housing Pictures
What happens when you need to raise the lid and they are in the hammock? I feed mine twice a day and I would hate to disturb them if they are in the hammock.

Re: Housing Pictures
But like what if you set the lid on the table and they all run out of the hammock and get away?CinnamonPearl wrote:I'd just go for it. Mice don't really mind too much.
Lol, I think they were asking if the mice know to get out of the hammock when you lift the lid, or something like that.
Re: Housing Pictures
I mean, even if that did happen, they'd probably just start exploring the table. Fancy mice aren't wild animals who'll try to bolt as far away as possible as fast as possible the instant they get a chance. I once accidentally left Lilith out on my desk for hours, and when I got home, she was still just chilling and eating a sunflower seed. Obviously never leave your mice out unattended (that time was a special circumstance), but you don't always have to worry about them bolting.

Re: Housing Pictures
When I start to lift the lid, any mice that are in the hammocks have always hopped out fairly quickly. But there are lids that have a little door or ones that are hinged, if you'd find that easier.
