Re: Housing Pictures
The girls huge DIY cage - before it was retired to my backyard, lol.
Now that I have younger mice again, a more exciting multilevel rebuild is in order
(I'm very aware the disc is too small, Valentina was the only mouse who used it between 4-6 weeks of age. It more or less turned out to be somewhere to sit & eat for everyone else)

Ooh, fun. Is that a tissue box with a hammock?

Re: Housing Pictures
Yes. I got the idea from Pinterest. It's a cat diy but I shrunk it down to mouse size.

Re: Housing Pictures
I've seen that but never thought about making it for the mice! Neat idea.

Re: Housing Pictures
My next thing is to try to recreate this wooden thing here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BKq1-1xB4zT/. (Is this person on here too?)
I made an attempt already but wasn't happy with it -the squares were too large- so instead I wrapped it in fleece (no sew knot way) and hung it straight up and down. Hazel is enjoying climbing it but I don't think my chubby sisters can.

Re: Housing Pictures
ooooo I will have to try that tissue box hammock idea once my tissue box is empty! The hammock will be low enough that I do not have to worry too much about their nails catching on it.

Re: Housing Pictures
I've never had an issue with nails catching in fleece or felt. And Hazel has got some nails.

Re: Housing Pictures
I have had Winnie catch her back nails quite badly and Li'l Bean has hurt her back leg before catching her nails. So I have become quite cautious about using fleece in their cage. But something that low should be fine as long as they have an easy way in and out.

Re: Housing Pictures
Oh no! That stinks. I don't blame you for being cautious.
I should say no problems with polar fleece. I did have an issue with a thinner, stretchy type of fleece I tried a couple years ago.

That is so cute, practical and easy! Let us know if the girls take to it.
