Re: Housing Pictures
Aww. I wish I could find cute houses. Most of them either don't have holes to hide or are the plug in types.
I love the Christmas tree idea!!

Re: Housing Pictures
Yeah, the smaller one is an oil burner with an opening for a tea light candle. I hot glued the roof on so the mice couldn't knock it off. The other is just a tea light holder and the back is completely open. And the little bridge is open at both ends.
I do have a snowy cabin packed away that originally had a plug, but the wire/light removed really easily leaving a good size mouse hole in the back. Some like that have too small of an opening though.
Thanks! The original pin was larger scale and made from pvc pipe, with ornaments in the openings.

Re: Housing Pictures
Hot gluing loose pieces and removing plugs and wires is a great idea! There was a cute stocking thing that would have worked if I had thought about the hot glue before. lol
Anyway, I rearranged Yoshi's tank again tonight. I'm surprised at how quickly it helped... and how much it helped! *knock on wood* It's the same mess as it was a few days ago, but fingers crossed. I keep telling him that he didn't make it to two just so he can start tearing himself up again, the goofball.
I always said "eh" about OCD mice "relapsing" but I was so heartbroken when I suddenly found him all bloody. Since I switched his cage up, you can hardly tell that he had done anything to his neck (except for the bald spot, but the fur has always been kinda thin there from the last time he scratched), and his ear... at least looks scabbed? I can't tell if he's still scratching it bloody or not. I wonder how fast his ears scab up. He's definitely still scratching, but only for a few seconds before he moves on to something else. Hopefully when everything heals he'll be able to stop completely!CallaLily wrote:It looks like he has tons to distract him. I hope it helps!

Aww, I'm glad the stuffed tank seems to be helping. Poor little guy.

Re: Housing Pictures
Scout finally got his tank upgraded! He is now living in a spacious 20 gallon tank, which is twice as many gallons as his last tank! It is decorated all pretty for the holidays!
Here is a picture in the dark:
And a picture in the light:
Also the girls have lights just hanging over their cage as well and it really looks pretty:
Happy Holidays!

Love that first pic: Scout looks like he's standing up to admire the twinkly lights and stretching his arms out in an "Oooo, so pretty" gesture.

Re: Housing Pictures
Slightly different version this week. Hopefully the MES will last a little longer than the cardboard.

Re: Housing Pictures
Those peppermint things look awesome! I keep meaning to get construction paper. I gotta do that before Christmas is over.
I gave Yoshi one of those tissue paper puffs that someone shared in DIYs and he actually started popcorning all over the place. I was so surprised. lol I'll have to get pictures before he destroys it.

Re: Housing Pictures
My mouse-house isn't nearly as fun as any of yours, but I just upgraded today to a 10 gallon tank
(as opposed to the critter keeper she was in previously).
You can (barely) see in the picture there is Walnut, my new girl.
Pumpkin is still sitting in her igloo eating a food of some kind that she "stole" from their table.

Re: Housing Pictures
Cool set up, Degare! That's cute that they have their food on a table, neat idea!
Here's my setup for the girls this week, I'm pretty proud of it .
Thanks to my dad for building that puzzle playground for me. I just asked "Does anyone want to build puzzle playgrounds?", and he made that with me. I think it looks pretty cool!
The girls also really enjoyed that MES I made, it has two platforms, a popsicle stick tunnel, and a ladder going up to a little nest area that I call the "tree house".

Calla, I am in love with your gingerbread houses!!!!!!!!
Degare, I'm so glad you decided to get a tank and a little friend for your Pumpkin. Part of the fun of having mice is making toys for them and decorating their tanks! You're going to have so much fun! Mice really appreciate everything you do for them. My mice love, love, love egg cartons.

Re: Housing Pictures
That little table and chairs set is so cute, @Degare.
Cool MES and puzzle playground configuration, @AnonymousMouseOwner! I can't add tubes to mine because the little rascals detroyed the connector thingies.
Thanks, Scaredy. I found them all at the thrift shop.

Re: Housing Pictures
Winter theme.
I took the Christmas tree idea and made a snowman.
Like the tree, it'll be a place to stick treats for them to find. And trust me, they're good at it.
They can go through his hat.
Full tank
I used a flour paste to glue the snowflake tissue paper to the cardboard. Worked well except the cardboard warped some when it dried.
They're enjoying their castle again.
I think I'll make some snowflakes to hang.
